Flying Fish offers accommodation in Cowes for all customers aged 18 or over in one of our crew houses.
If you are booking a training course with Flying Fish, then you have the option to add accommodation to your booking.
Our crew houses are a mix of Victorian two and three-bedroom properties in the heart of Cowes, a five-minute walk from Cowes High Street and our training centre.
Our accommodation is self-catering with large kitchens and a living area to relax in after a training day. The houses are fully furnished with bedding provided. Each crew house is just a couple of minutes’ walk from our training centre on Cowes High Street.
Our crew houses are a great way to get to know other customers on the same course. Most customers cook together and socialise together. You’ll make friends you’ll take with you as you travel the world!
All Flying Fish crew houses have fitted kitchens, including washing machines and dishwashers. There is a TV and of course free Wifi available in every house. We have twin, single rooms available in each house, each with storage facilities for your belongings. We will always do our best to allocate a suitable room for you. Each house has multiple bathrooms and a furnished garden, great for the summer months.
We don’t provide towels, so please bring your own. Please note the pictures below feature two of our properties however, we have five properties all of a similar standard.
Please note, parking is limited in Cowes. We advise against bringing a car as the accommodation, our training centre, shops, and bars are all within a 5-minute walk of each other.
Most customers travel by train or plane to Southampton, then hop on the Red Jet to West Cowes. Parking is available in Southampton at the Triangle car park, close to Red Funnel’s Red Jet.
STCW, Superyacht Deckhand, and Stewardess and Yachtmaster Power training courses run seven days a week. During the evenings you may like to eat at one of the many restaurants in Cowes or relax in the accommodation.
If you are looking to head out, then we recommend the famous Coast bar or try Harbour Kitchen, all located on Cowes High Street. There are also many pubs along the High Street, including The Anchor and The Globe, both student favorites. The Globe has a rooftop terrace for you to watch the boats out on the Solent as you unwind with a cocktail.
If you like to keep fit, there is a local Gym, Inshape, a 15-minute walk from the accommodation which many of our customers use to unwind. There are also some beautiful coastal walks around Cowes, with ice cream stops along the way.
During the summer, you could hire a stand-up paddle board and take to the water or mountain bike to explore Cowes and the surrounding areas.
