The story of Flying Fish
Who we are
Flying Fish was founded in 1995 by two RYA Watersports Trainers who decided that the learning environment was as important as the sport itself. For this reason they decided to seek the best locations around the world to make sure you get the most out of your training. Over the coming years Flying Fish set up training centres in Sydney Australia, Cowes on the Isle of Wight and Vassiliki in Greece. Flying Fish was and has always been seen as a family.
Many of the staff have been working for the business for more than 10 years. This brings a lot of experience and knowledge of the industry that we are able to pass onto our customers.
We specialise in four areas, providing training, adventure and job opportunities to our customers who are looking for a new career, these are:
Flying Fish Australia
In 2001 Flying Fish Australia Pty ltd was created as operations were now year round so a separate business was formed in Australia.
Today’s Flying Fish
Today you will still find Flying Fish in the same fantastic locations, the focus is still the same as it was in 1995 but with the growth of the Superyacht industry you will see more and more Fish working as Deckhands and Stewardess. Flying Fish has been owned and operated by the same two water sports enthusiasts for 22 years, in 2016 Andrew Lorant retired and Flying Fish UK ltd was bought by one of the Directors, Andy Hunt and Laura Billings, who have worked for the company for 15 years. Andy and Laura continue to run the business with the same principals and goals as the founders. Flying Fish UK ltd is now a separate company to Flying Fish Sailing Academy, who still provide professional Yachtmaster training and Dinghy training with Flying Fish UK acting as a UK agent.
